Adding Amazon Fulfillment Centers to GST

Adding Amazon Fulfillment Centers to GST

If you want to register in FBA or fulfilled by Amazon, the first thing you will need to do is to add fulfillment centers to your GST as an additional place of business. Amazon gives you two options, hire CA consultants to add the FCs to GST on your behalf. And the other option was to do it myself.

As you can see, you will have to make a payment to the third-party service provider who was already selected by default, and I am in Kolkata, so don’t get surprised if you see a different name. Once I made the payment, the payment transaction number got populated.

After making the payment on Friday, I expected a call back from the CAs, but that did not come. I waited till Monday and then called them. They asked me to sign and stamp on a BSA and 2 NOCs. And I had to share the GST portal login credential. My GST Core field amendment or the FCs were added by the afternoon, but I did not get the Reg-16. When I emailed them on Tuesday morning, I got the PDF to upload to the Amazon portal.

You will get the BSA and NOC PDFs in a zip, the CA will tell you will documents to sign and stamp. Since you have opened a Current account, I would assume you have a stamp that states your business name. You will need that.

After the amendment is filed, we are supposed to get new GST certification with FCs mentioned within one month, which will have to be provided to Amazon. That was the last step in Adding Amazon Fulfillment Centers to GST.

What If I get “Intimation of Notice for seeking clarification on Application for Amendment of Core fields in Registration Particulars”?

I got it yesterday, and I forwarded it to the CAS. And today, the CA firm has responded to it. That means we can get the notice, and having a CA who handles these would be beneficial. While Adding Amazon Fulfillment Centers to GST, I got the notice, informed the CA team, and took it from me. I did not have to do any other documents. They just asked for OTP. And after the submitted clarifications, I got it approved within another week. And I got the amended GST, which I had to submit to Amazon.

Adding Amazon Fulfillment Centers to GST Is possible even if you do not want hire this consultants, you will not need to file any GST as long as you want to add fulfillment or warehouse from same states.

1.In India, there are many fulfillment centers/ warehouses and the number will go up as business expands.

Amazon has Fulfillment centers in Mohali, Ludhiana, Gurugram, Delhi-Gaziabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Indore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Chennai and I am sure there will be many more added.

2. If you have GST number, in my case I have from West Bengal, so adding fulfillment from west bengal would not be a problem. If I want to add fullfullment centers from Delhi, then I will need a GST from Delhi first.

3.Once you login to GST portal you will see an option to add additional places for business, this will be an amendment. Amazon provides you the warehouse details. You can them yourselfe too.

I am Abhiroop. I started working in IT services industry in the year 2007. I have worked in 3 continents. Currently, I live and work in the USA. While blogging was one of my hobbies that I picked up in college, I fell in love with the stock market in the year 2014. I purchased my first stock in 2008, and I sold them all after 2009. I did not know the power of compounding. Which was a HUGE MISTAKE. I intended to help everyone understand why we need to invest in stocks, hence I started this blog.
